Obituary for Steven Paul St. Laurent

Steven P. St. Laurent, 67, of E. Syracuse passed away Sunday due complications from COVID-19. He was born in Syracuse the son of the late Arthur and Martha St. Laurent. After graduating East Syracuse-Minoa High School, Steven proudly served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.

After his service, Steven worked at the Syracuse VA before moving on to New Process Gear, where he would work until his retirement. Steven then rejoined the workforce, where he continued his career as a HVAC Specialist for the Carrier Corporation.

Lovingly referred to as ‘Scuba Steve’ by friends, Steven was a proud and active member of Alcoholics Anonymous where he celebrated 15 years of sobriety and acted as a mentor and friend for many in the community. Steven was also a member of other social groups and organizations.

Steven enjoyed a myriad of different past-times, and was a licensed ham radio operator as well as an avid outdoorsman. He had a fondness for the game of golf, and loved camping, fishing, kayaking, and practicing his marksmanship.

A true renaissance man, Steven was known by many for his knowledge spanning many topics. With his love of problem solving and ability to fix just about anything, Steven used his skill set to help friends and strangers alike. Steven loved to help people up until the very end.

Surviving are his loving wife of 46 years Paula Kalsick-St. Laurent; son, Matthew St. Laurent (Yasmin Mackie); daughter, Allyson St. Laurent; sister, Susan (Art) Kelly; brothers, Brian (Diane), Doug (Kathy), John (Angela) and Andrew (Lisa Newcombe) St. Laurent; grandchildren, Copeland DeOrdio and Harrison Walters; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Lobo St. Laurent.

Calling hours will be Saturday July 17, 2021 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at R. H. Schepp & Son Minoa Chapel. A service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
