Obituary for Marjorie Ferris Cahill

Marjorie Belle Ferris Cahill was born in Onondaga Valley on November 12, 1919. She grew up in DeWitt and Fayetteville; and graduated from Fayetteville High School and Powelson Business Institute. She was a trailblazer for women in Syracuse as the first to manage a department for Personal Finance Company in 1942. Later, she was a legal secretary for Bond, Schoeneck and King. In 1945 she married Robert J. Cahill of Fayetteville, remaining together for 53 years until his death in 1998. By that time they had lived im Southern California for fifteen years and continued to live in their home until her death on December 16, 2018; as sharp as ever and with her sense of humor intact.

She is survived by her sons, Lawrence R. Cahill and Gregory F. Cahill, who together with their wives, Lisa Sowle Cahill and Deborah Ann Cahill, miss her very much, as do her seven grandchildren, Charlotte, James, Don, Will, Emily, Ae and Kerry; and her great grandson, Bo.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 am to Noon on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs St., Fayetteville. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow the calling hour. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in DeWitt.
