Obituary for Esther W. Benedict
Esther W. Benedict, 97, of Kirkville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Brookdale Eastside, Fayetteville. Esther was born to Inez and John S. Wemes of Ontario, NY, on June 6, 1921. She married Elwyn E. Benedict in 1953 and lived on Benedict Rd. in East Syracuse for 20 years before moving to Kirkville. Esther worked in two Rochester banks for 12 years before getting married. She enjoyed crocheting, entertaining and cooking.
Esther is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Elwyn E. Benedict; all of her siblings, Basil Wemes, Wilma Rogalski, Laurence Wemes, Ernestine Morgia (her twin), Faith Bittner and Fern Richmond; and two nephews, Roger and Brent Wemes.
Esther is survived by two sons, Darrell A. Benedict and Gilbert A. Benedict; granddaughter, Erica (William) Hazard; grandson, Ryan J. Benedict; and two great-grandsons, Shea and Sawyer Hazard.
Family and friends may call from 1:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday, February 24 at R.H. Schepp & Son Minoa Chapel, 6530 Schepp’s Corners Rd., Minoa. The funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 25 at the funeral home. Spring burial will be in Collamer Cemetery.
