Obituary for Gerald A. Wright

Gerald A. Wright, 88, of East Syracuse, passed away Wednesday, March 6. Born October 14, 1930 in Syracuse, he was the son of Arthur and Ada Wright of Eastwood. He graduated from Eastwood High School and served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He then spent 32 years at East Syracuse Chevrolet, retiring as Sales Manager in 1995.

Jerry enjoyed vacationing with family on Cape Cod, camping, and playing golf. He was a dedicated fan of Syracuse University sports and the New York Yankees. He had a passion for volunteer service, giving of his time to Clear Path for Veterans, Meals on Wheels, and Eastwood-East Syracuse Kiwanis. Jerry was longtime treasurer of Trinity Episcopal Church, along with serving on many committees. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Family was always his priority.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Priscilla Pearson Wright; sons, Brian (Brenda) of Sewell, NJ and Bruce (Teri) of East Syracuse; grandchildren, Kristen DiCastelnuovo, Thomas, Stephen, Scott and Katherine Wright; great-grandchildren, Lena DiCastelnuovo, Anthony DiCastelnuovo Jr., Luca Manitta; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 29 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 106 Chapel St., Fayetteville. A reception will follow the service. Burial will be Saturday, March 30 at White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt.
