Obituary for Jeffery T. Jones
Jeffery T. Jones of Manlius passed away on May 18th after a brief Illness. During his final days Jeff was surrounded by friends and family. Well known to all, for his stubbornness, Jeff fought his illness with dignity. During his last days Jeff declared to all, “I’m not giving up” and he never did.
Jeff was born to parents Dorothy and Jerry Jones on May 21, 1955 and lived in Central New York most of his life. Jeff spent his youth entertaining his sisters and parents with his renowned antics. He graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School, then resided in Boston and Boca Raton for a number of years while furthering his studies.
Eventually Jeff settled back in CNY, worked at Magnavox in Manlius for several years, married and settled down. Jeff worked for nearly 25 years in Transportation Refrigeration, most of it with Carrier Transicold. Over the past 15 years Jeff worked with friends Mark Agan at his business, AAA Insulated Bulkhead Service & Sales and John Martin at his business, J&J Painting.
What Jonesy really enjoyed – when not throwing a party - was sports, music, and spending time with Family and friends. Back in the day he played Softball for many years on the American Legion team and the annual Thanksgiving “Turkey Bowl” football game among friends, and rivals, was legendary but over the more recent past Jeff enjoyed watching SU Sports and the NY Giants. Jeff was a talented man who loved to play his guitar or piano with a local band consisting of friends.
Jeff is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Pamela. He is survived by his wife, Maureen; son, Dylan; daughter, Jessica; sisters, Barbra (Will) Riner of Alpharetta, GA, Susan (Mark) Agan of Jordan, NY, Kimberly (Brian) Mac Allister of Fayetteville, NY; along with two grandchildren, Sadie and Cameron; sister-in-law, Colleen Brown and Danny of Colorado; brother-in-law, Jerome Lasinski of Cato; and father-in-law “Dad” Stan Lasinski of Solvay; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 1-4 PM at the Newell–Fay Manlius Chapel at 8171 Cazenovia Rd., Manlius on Saturday, June 1st. Friends and family will have the opportunity to speak at that time.
Following the services everyone is invited to the American Legion Post 141 on Main Street in Manlius for a buffet and light refreshments.
Contributions may be made to the family or American Legion Post 141.
