Obituary for Shirley A. Letcher

Shirley Anne White Letcher, 80, of Kirkville, peacefully passed away on Memorial Day after a brief illness at home with her family by her side.

She was predeceased by her parents, LeRoy White and Hazel Stevenson White; son Mark “Nicky”; and brother Merton White.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Mark; daughters, Belinda (David) Keysor and Melinda Stoffel; sons, Brian (Theresa) Letcher, Michael (Penny) Letcher and James (Jennifer) Letcher; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Loretta (Larry) Nye; brother LeRoy (Cindy) White, Jr.

Shirley graduated from Tully high School and proud graduate of OCC with an accounting degree at 54 years old, while working and caring for her family. She retired from CMP Sheet Metal Inc.

Shirley was inducted into the Oswego Speedway Hall of Fame alongside Mark. She was contributing columnist for national racing magazines, Gator Racing News, Speed Sport Racing News and the Oswego Speedway Racing Program. She was a founding member and secretary/treasurer of International Super Modified Association ISMA. Before computerization, Shirley hand scored featured races involving 24 race cars.

She enjoyed traveling, camping, racing and watching her children and grandchildren sporting events and school activities. She enjoyed her monthly Bunko group.

Family and friends may call from 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at the R.H. Schepp & Son Minoa Chapel, 6530 Schepps Corners Rd., Minoa. A memorial service will follow the calling hours at 4:00 pm. Private burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery in North Manlius.
