Obituary for Violet Rossomano

Violet M. Rossomano, age 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at The Francis House surrounded by her loved ones.

Vi was born on May 5, 1928 to Barbara and Vincent Zangari. In 1949, she graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Plant Science. Upon graduation she began a remarkable career as a microbiologist. Vi worked for Bristol Myers for over 40 years doing research in the development of several pharmaceuticals still in use today. She was known as a mentor, personally and professionally, to those she worked with.

A devoted wife and mother, Vi was predeceased by her husband, Joseph A. Rossomano, as well as her loving companion, George C. Curtis; her parents; and siblings, Natalie Cappa, Rose Zangari and Orlando Zangari.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (David) Ostanski of Batavia, and Annmarie Rossomano of Manlius. Her grandchildren, Marisa T. Rossomano and Tyler Ostanski were her pride and joy. She was a guiding light in the lives of her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Services will take place on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Salt Springs St., Fayetteville. Friends may pay their respects at the church from 10 am – 11 am, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 am. Violet will be laid to rest at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Dewitt alongside her late husband.
