Obituary for Michael Robert Wood
Michael Robert Wood, 62, of Bridgeport entered unto rest on Thursday, January 31st at home with his wife and children. Mike was born in Norwich on April 22, 1956 and graduated from Cortland High School.
Mike was the owner of Collamer Stop & Shop for 19 years, retiring in 2017. Recently he sold real estate for Berkshire Hathaway CNY Realty.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert F. and Nancy Wessels Wood; and brother, Rodney Wood.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Shelly Shepard Wood; children, Amber Wood Downey (David Jr.) of Constantia and Shawn Michael Wood (Kristen) of Phoenix; five grandchildren; six sisters, Susan Wood of Cortland, Kathleen Wood of Ithaca, Nancy Wood of Cortland, Theresa Wood Al-musa of Amman, Jordan, Rachel Wood and Renee Wood Passeri; two brothers, Gregory Wood of Homer and David Wood of Cortland; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, February 4th at the R.H. Schepp & Son Minoa Chapel, 6530 Schepps Corners Rd. (corner of Kirkville Rd.), Minoa. The funeral service will be 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 5th at the funeral home. The burial will be at Noon on Wednesday at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Cortland.
