Obituary for Peter John Marshall

Peter John Marshall, 53 of Fayetteville, passed away suddenly from an acute illness. He was born in Syracuse and graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in 1984. He received his Associates degree from Morrisville College in 1986. Peter worked as a machinist for 21 years at Stickley Furniture.

Peter was both an Owner & Trainer of Standardbred race horses and a Cornell Certified Ferrier. He was a Director on the board of JMF Foundation.

Peter loved his family and friends. His passions were listening to music, his snowmobile, driving his tractor on the farm, and watching reruns of his favorite tv shows. One of his proudest moments was being the final owner of a famous race horse, Stage Door Stevie.

He is survived by his loving parents, Dr. James Otis and Ruth Marshall; brother and sisters James “Otey” Marshall, Jr. (Kirsten) of Syracuse, Cynthia Vulcano (Sam) of Cazenovia, Jennifer Evans (Eric) of Niskayuna, and ten nieces and nephews; Sam and Emily Vulcano; Sarah, Jack and Owen Evans; Jim, Nick, Ben, Andy and Spencer Marshall.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. The funeral service will be 11:00 am on Friday at the Jim Marshall Farms Foundation, 1978 New Boston Rd., Chittenango, NY 13037. Burial will be in Fayetteville Cemetery.
