Obituary for Robert J. Chernosky

Robert J. Chernosky, 87, of East Syracuse, passed away Thursday surrounded by his family. Born in Menominee, MI, he was the son of the late Frank and Ann Chernosky.

Robert grew up in Miami and graduated from Miami Edison High School. After high school he proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Later he earned his BS from the University of Miami. Robert worked as an Electrical Engineer until his retirement.

He was a parishioner at St. Matthew’s Church where he sang in the choir. He was a member of the DeWitt Choraliers and Theatre Group. Robert was a Little League Coach and President of the ESM Booster Club.

He enjoyed playing golf, softball and watching his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. Also, he enthusiastically would attend his grandchildren’s school and sporting events.

Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, Emily; sons, Robert (Maureen), Gary, and Mark (Patricia) Chernosky; grandchildren, Meghan (Alex) Gerson, Matthew (Kristen), Erin (Vinny), Glenn, Noah, Helena, and Jonah Chernosky; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sons, Glenn and Richard Chernosky.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the R. H. Schepp & Son Minoa Chapel, 6530 Schepp’s Corners Rd., Minoa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Church, 100 Kinne St., East Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to either St. Matthew’s Church food pantry or World Apostolate of Fatima USA in Bob’s memory.
